The company was acquired by Investcorp in 1997.  Since then the business has benefited from a substantial capital investment programme exceeding £170 million.  During 2004, Welcome Break restructured its capital, using the proceeds from a sale and lease back of nine freehold sites to more than halve it's debt levels.
