SPEND A PENNY ... SPARE A PENNY

Motorway service operator Welcome Break is aiming to raise £100,000 for BBC's Children in Need by asking customers to spare a penny when they use the service station toilets.

From today the company has launched its 'Spend a penny ... Spare a penny' campaign across its 26 UK-wide service stations.

A large poster with a collection tin attached has been placed in each of the main toilet areas.

Welcome Break Chief Executive Rod McKie said: "Our sites attract 80 million people a year, the majority of who use our toilets, and do so completely free of charge.  We are asking each and every one of those people to put a penny into the collection tin when they use the toilet facilities, or more if they wish.

"Their support will enable us to raise £100,000 for a fantastic charity which works to make a difference to the lives of disadvantaged children and young people in the UK."

BBC Children in Need is Welcome Break's charity of th eyear and the company is one of its corporate partners.

The 'Spend a penny ... Spare a penny' campaign will run for 12 months.
