WEBSITE 'OPENS THE DOOR'

Campaigning website Truckersworld is pleased with the interest and response from Welcome Break and Moto after drivers met with senior managers.

Website founder Barrie Tozer says key issues discussed included security at motorway service areas, facilities, food and value for money parking charges.

He said: "Once again I believe Truckersworld has opened the door of communication, has brought issues to the people who can make the changes and has probably achieved more in one meeting than any protest or attempt in the past.

"It was our first meeting with both Welcome Break and Moto, but both were keen to continue talking and have asked me via the website to get driver feedback on types of meals they would like to see offered, why they prefer certain locations and what they want to see in the future from motorway service areas."

He added: "Maybe over a period of time MSAs will become a safe place for drivers to park up at night, receive proper facilities and get well fed with a proper meal and drink."
