Welcome Break has announced that it will pay all of its employees across the country the National Living Wage as a minimum starting rate, irrespective of age. It is the first of the UK’s major motorway service operators to make this commitment to its team members.
Welcome Break currently employs over 5,000 employees at 27 sites across the UK, 2095 employees (42%) under 25 and the decision, to provide all its staff with the National Living Wage comes as part of its on-going strategy to attract the very best people to work for the company. As part of this, Welcome Break will spend an additional £4million to ensure we attract the best recruits. For some employees, this will represent an increase of 33 per cent on their current wage.
