With a late Easter this year, there’s a good chance we’ll be enjoying some better weather this year. We can’t rule out a washout of course, but we’re confident we won’t be seeing a white Easter! We suggest postponing the DIY plans, putting down the wallpaper catalogues and getting yourself and the kids on the road!

Some of Britain’s finest venues are getting behind Easter in a big way this year, with Easter festivals and egg hunts to keep the kids entertained. Which might give you enough time for you to take in some stunning Spring sights.

We’ve gathered a list of some great destinations from all corners of Britain. One might be down the road from you, others might make a great road trip. Don’t forget we have hotel rooms most of our locations and some of these will give you somewhere to stay wherever you’re going.

WB_Easter_17_Eden_Project

The World Class Eden Project is holding an Easter Eggstravaganza throughout the Easter holidays, including egg hunts and other activities for the kids. If you haven’t been to Eden before, you’re in for a treat. The Eden project is located close to St Austell Cornwall. There are admission fees and we advise buying your ticket in advance here.

Our closest Welcome Break site – Sedgemoor M5. Book a Days Inn room here.

WB_Easter_17_Brownsea_Island

Nestled in the beautiful setting of Poole Harbour (the world’s second largest natural harbour), Brownsea Island is open to the public visitors throughout the Easter holidays. The island is a unique ecosystem and one of the few habitats for the Red Squirrel. Easter activities include the Cadbury Egg Hunt, in association with National Trust. The island is accessible on a regular passenger ferry – more details can be found here. Additional charges apply to visit the island – more details can be found here.

Brownsea Island is located in Poole, Dorset. Our closest Welcome Break location is Fleet on the M3. The hotel is fully open, whilst temporary service facilities are available on our Southbound site. Why not book a Days Inn hotel room here?

WB_Easter_17_Warwick_Castle

The world-renowned Warwick Castle is a great place to get into the Easter spirit, with a proper historical twist. Dare to enter the Horrible Histories Maze and enjoy the Wicked Warwick live stage show. And with the little ones occupied, you can enjoy the remarkable sights of one of Britain’s truly outstanding historical venues.

Warwick Castle is located in the centre of Warwick, just off the M40 (jct 13). Admission charges apply and you can save up to 30% by booking online here.  Our nearest Welcome Break locations are Warwick North and Warwick South. Why not book a Days Inn hotel room here?

WB_Eater_17_Chatsworth

Chatsworth House is holding an Easter Eggstravaganza throughout the holidays, including egg hunts and number of other activities in their Farmyard and Children’s Playground. Chatsworth is sited in the wondrous Peak District and houses one of the country’s finest art collections, let alone its outstanding scenery.

Chatsworth is located close to Bakewell, on the A619 (jct 29 M1). Entry charges apply and tickets can be booked in advance here. Our nearest Welcome Break site is Woodall on the M1. Why not book a room at our Days Inn hotel here?

WB_Easter_17_Fountains_Abbey

Fountains Abbey and Water Garden is located close to Ripon in North Yorkshire and is a perfect setting for the kids to take part in the National Trust Cadbury Egg Hunt, throughout the holidays. If egg hunting isn’t your thing, you can enjoy the most complete Cistercian Abbey remains in the country (believe us, they’re stunning) along with a large Georgian Water garden.

The Abbey is close to the A1M – from jct 4b. Admission charges apply on the door. Our closest Welcome Break location is Hartshead Moor and a Ramada Hotel is located at Wakefield on the M1. You can book a hotel room here.
