It’s official. The bonfires are out. The John Lewis Monster has been unleashed. It’s time to admit that Christmas is here.

Many of us will be jumping on the internet to get those perfect gifts this year. So don’t forget all our Waitrose stores offer Click & Collect for all John Lewis purchases, so you don’t have to wait in for your deliveries. Which means you’ll have enough time to get out and enjoy some real Christmas spirit. What better way than a trip to one of the big Christmas Markets and Fairs around the UK this year?

We’ve pulled together a list of the some of the biggest Christmas Markets and Fairs opening-up in November. For those of you not ready for mulled wine and carols just yet, you’ll have plenty of time to enjoy these in December too!

Two – Birmingham Frankfurt Christmas Market – November 16th to December 24th

Possibly the best place in Britain to enjoy bratwursts, currywursts, schnitzels, pretzels and fine German lagers. And even pizzas and burgers for those less adventurous! This famous Christmas market is the largest of its kind outside of Germany. Open to 9pm every day. We recommend weekdays for those wanting a browse and evenings for Christmas with more bustle!

Three – Bath Christmas Market – November 23rd to December 10th

Perhaps one of Britain’s most beautiful cities to enjoy this year’s Christmas spirit. With over 200 twinkling chalets spread across the serene Georgian Streets, selling handmade and local gifts, with over 80% of stallholders coming from Bath and the South West. Any excuse to enjoy Beautiful Bath in Winter! Opening times vary throughout the week.

Four – Cardiff Christmas Market – November 9th to December 23rd

Sited across the pedestrian streets of Cardiff City Centre, including St John St, Trinity St and Hayes. The market will offer a range of handmade products from local producers, including food and ales from a range of Welsh and West Country producers. Open until 5:00 pm throughout, with late night shopping days across December.

Five – “The North Pole”, Parker’s Piece Cambridge – November 17th to January 8th

Of all the markets and events in East of England, this one looks irresistible. The North Pole is a popular Christmas Fair, boasting a large ice rink, food and drink stalls and a Fun Fair right in the centre of enchanting Cambridge. Sure, it won’t tick much off your Christmas shopping list, but the temptation of a Dodgems, Waltzer and traditional German fayre is too much to pass up. Entry is free, with rides and ice rinks subject to fees. Ice rink closes at 9pm.
